Night Prayer in Advent
On Wednesday evenings, 6, 13 and 20 December 2017, we have a short service of Night Prayer (sometimes called Compline) with a reflective address. 8.30pm, for about 30 minutes. Do make this part of your Advent devotions.

50/50 Draw
The winning numbers for the November 2017 draw are 1st 27, 2nd 35 and 3rd 8.

The Diocesan Year of Prayer
This begins on 3 December 2017. Why not make this a year in which you find a greater place for prayer in your life?  Ideas include:

  • saying the Lord's Prayer each day
  • joining us for Morning Prayer in St John the Baptist Church at 8.30am, once each week
  • lighting a candle at a set time of each day and offering a few minutes of silence and intercession; a scheme could be:
    •  Mon  -  parts of the world in hunger, war or need
    • Tues  -  those we know who are unwell, or sad
    • Wed  -  our wise use of the world's resources
    • Thurs  -  your family, and those people closest to you
    • Fri  -  your own 'walk with God' - Westbourne, its surrounding area, and our churches.

Parish Hall Drop-in
It’s the Drop In Christmas Tea on the 18 December 2017 starting at 2.30pm. Refreshments and carols with Dr Tibbs on the piano. Please come along if you can and ask friends and neighbours too. Also we could do with some new volunteer help particularly on Thursdays (but Mondays as well). Let me know if you can spare a couple of hours once in a while. Thanks. Andrew Turner

Christingle Service – Sunday 10 December 2017 at 4pm at St John the Baptist Church

In preparation for this service, do join us at 6.30pm on Friday 8th December to prepare the Christingles. Contact Mel for venue.

Christingle celebrations are named after the Christingles that are lit during this special service. Christingles are made from an orange decorated with red tape, sweets and a candle. Find out more about the meaning of each element of the Christingle on The Children's Society website

Interested in Admission to Communion?
Sat 6 January, 10.30am  Revd Andrew Doye will hold an open meeting in church for 45 minutes intended for parents who might wish their children to begin to receive communion (before they are confirmed). Bring your questions. We’ll explore the issues and the options, and, for those proceeding, there will be offered a short course of preparation for the children over the weeks that follow. Children must be in year 3 and above. It’s helpful if interested parents would please make themselves known to Andrew Doye well before Christmas.

Dates for your Diary
Friday 5 January 2018,  Food and Fizz.  Tickets available soon from Paula Caird.

Saturday 3 February 2018, at Hollybank House, "Ivor Novello - A Man of the Theatre" with Canon David Nason. More details on the event.
