News and Events

Next Westbourne supper lecture: Saturday, 26 October 2019 in the Parish Hall, featuring international author Kate Mosse. The evening begins with a two-course supper at 7.00pm. Tickets at £12.50 can be obtained from Rona Musker or Susie D (contacts in church). Book early to be sure of your place.  Proceeds to the churches of St John the Baptist and Woodmancote.

Harvest Lunch: You are invited to join the lunch at 12 noon in the Parish Hall on Sunday 13 October 2019, following the Harvest Service at 10.30am at St John the Baptist Church. Please sign up on the noticeboard in the welcome area.

Macmillan Coffee Morning  Many thanks to all who attended our coffee morning it raised £650 (before addition of Gift Aid). Elisabeth & Thomas B

Sunday 3 November 2019  Friends’ and Relatives’ Remembrance Service at 3.00pm. If you have a loved one who has died in 2018 or 2019 and whose name we might read in the course of this service, please have a word with the Rector.

Christmas Fair - Please begin to think about whether you could run a stall or organise something during the Fair on Saturday 7 December 2019, 10am-12 noon. And remember jars of homemade produce would be very welcome.

Parish Giving Scheme - Please support our churches by means of a regular promised contribution, if possible through the Parish Giving Scheme.  Leaflets and application forms are at the back of our churches or contact Ali George. Many thanks to all those who have reviewed and increased their donations through the Scheme.

Deanery Prayer Gatherings – next 2 dates:  Saturday, 19 October at 9.30am in Chidham Parish at St Wilfrid’s, Broad Road, Nutbourne PO18 8UA and on Thursday, 7 November at St Mary’s, Funtington.

Morning Prayer takes place in St John the Baptist Church at 08:30 to 09:00 every weekday morning. Do come along, and give it a try, if you can. It is led from the Church of England’s format for Daily Prayer, and contains bible readings, canticles, appropriate local, national and international prayers, and will often feature a reflection on one of the readings. Everyone welcome – even if you just come occasionally.
