During this difficult time, when our church buildings are closed, we are still a church. We meet virtually for prayer services and fellowship. St John the Baptist Church is available for private prayer twice a week. We continue to love our neighbours by offering practical support to the vulnerable and caring for our communities.

In the current circumstances we have lost income from church plate collections, visitors' donations, weddings, funerals and the range of fund raising activities listed on our fundraising page.

Last year we gave more than £14,000 to various charities, of which £9,000 came from St John the Baptist's PCC funds. We also paid our Parish Share to the Diocese of Chichester in full to support the broader church's ministry, as we have promised to do this year.

How you you can help

Thank you for your interest in making a donation to the work of our church. There are a number of ways in which you can do this and we hope that from the various alternatives below you will find an arrangement that suits you.

Or you could click on the 'donate now' button below, which will take you to St John the Baptist Church's page on the CAF charities website. From there, you can easily make donations via your debit or credit card. Thank you for your generosity, particularly at this time.

Regular Giving

The most convenient way to give regularly is to join the Parish Giving Scheme. This is a charitable organisation set up by the Church of England to provide a secure and confidential means for donors to give to individual parish churches. The application form gives more details of the scheme; if you would like to join please complete the form and send to the address given. Alternatively, you can join by telephone call to 0333 002 1271 (you will need to have your bank account details, the name of the church and our church code: 10-2080326).

Alternatively, you may prefer to set up a Standing Order direct to St John the Baptist Church, in which case our bank details are:

Account name: St John the Baptist Westbourne PCC
Sort Code: 40-52-40 (CAF Bank)
Account number: 00014627

If you are a tax payer and make a Gift Aid Declaration we can recover an additional 25% at no cost to you.

Single donations

May be made by bank transfer to our bank account above. Please include your name in the reference and any special reason for the donation: e.g. FETE B SMITH. Again, a Gift Aid Declaration will enable us to recover an additional 25%.

Note: CAF Bank is not yet a member of the Confirmation of Payee (CoP) scheme and your bank may raise this as an issue. If you can double-check and confirm that St John the Baptist's bank details are correct, then banks will usually make the transfer anyway.

A convenient alternative is to click the Donate Now button on the home page of our website. This will take you to the Charities Aid Foundation site, where you can make a payment by debit or credit card. Or you can visit and make a donation by card to ‘St John the Baptist Westbourne’.

Contactless card payments

We have a card machine for contactless payments and this will be available at the church after services and at most parish fundraising events.
