Fundraising News 2022

Events in 2022 to come

The list of events are a mixture of welcome, hospitality, and/or fundraising.

Church Open Day: following the successes of the fete another opportunity to offer something special to our community.  On the day of our Patronal Festival, Sunday 28 August 2022, we open the doors of the parish church to visitors from 12 noon to 4pm, for people to visit, enjoy and have their eyes opened to what a treasure lies in their midst. There will be trips up the tower, history details, refreshments, displays and a very warm welcome, quizzes, lights and music; and prayers on the hour.

Stonepillow: food donations wanted. We have for several years collected food for Stonepillow at the back of the church, and currently stocks have fallen low. Can you help Stonepillow? The high need is for instant coffee, sugar, cooking oil, gravy granules, spices, tinned meat (no spam please) tinned vegetables, pre-made custard, and a medium need for pot noodles, super noodles, pasta lunch pots, cereals (no cornflakes or porridge), breakfast/brunch bars, biscuits, chocolates and treats, crisps.

Ride & Stride Event: on Saturday 10 September 2022 across the county people will be sponsored to cycle, walk or horse ride to visit historic churches and to raise money that will be split between their own church and the Sussex Historic Churches Trust. Our Church will be open to visitors, but would any of you like to take part as a cyclist or walker to raise funds? More information is in the welcome area.

July 2022 fundraising updates

Summer Fete: repeated thanks Angie Leggett and others who ensured this event took place so well. It was great to be back on the Rectory lawn, and to offer such hospitality to the village.  The latest update of funds raised suggests a figure just in excess of £3,000.  A provisional listing of this result is on the noticeboard in the Parish Church.

June 2022 fundraising updates

Christian Aid Week – 15-21 May 2022

Collections from house to house delivery of envelopes raised the sum of £2,145 (including Gift Aid). Thank you to everyone who made this result possible.

Fundraising Event for Ukraine - Tree and teas

The sun shone, the tulip tree came into flower (just in time) and we raised £752 for Ukraine! Many thanks to all who donated raffle prizes and cakes and particularly to the band of helpers, who made it all possible! Thanks of course as well to all who came and contributed to Fundraising Event for Ukraine.

Coffee Morning in aid of The Leprosy Mission

Thank you to all who joined us with their friends at Cranberry. We raised £353.80.

May 2022 updates

Thank you for all the visitors and generous support given at the 'Tabora League for Children' Coffee Morning. It raised more than £1,300 including Gift Aid. The money is going to be spent on 14 beds with 14 mattresses as well as 5 tablets, keyboards, and SIM cards to support the work Terry is doing for the charity's new database.  Robina R

Christian Aid Week – 15-21 May 2022
Thank you for attending the Friday lunch to support Christian Aid. Our next event is a Coffee Morning at No.1 Mallard Way on Wednesday 18 May 2022 from 10am to 12 noon. Tickets are available for the Chilli Supper on Saturday 28 May 2022 , at 7.30pm from Robina R on 01243 370320 or Rona M on 01243 377186.  Enjoy a meal together, vegetarian and non-chilli option available  –  but bring your own cutlery crockery, glass & drinks. £15 for adults, £7 for under 16s.

The churches’ outside fundraising for May will instead focus upon the important work of Christian Aid.

Ukraine - We continue to encourage prayer for the people of Ukraine, and to use the Parish Church as a quiet place of contemplation in which to do so. A pillar candle burns in the north chapel each day. Our Sunday cash collections for the people of Ukraine have ended, and £1,000 (including Gift Aid) has been sent to the DEC Ukraine appeal. We direct those who wish to make further contribution to do so through DEC.
