Almighty God, you have broken the tyranny of sin and have sent the Spirit of your Son into our hearts whereby we call you Father:  give us grace to dedicate our freedom to your service, that we and all creation may be brought to the glorious liberty of the children of God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Monday 18 June to Friday 22 June 2018 - 8.30am Morning Prayer
As parishioners will know, Morning Prayer is offered in the North Chapel of St John’s Church every weekday from 8.30am-9.00am. If you haven’t yet joined this gathering, but are able to do so, please give it a try in the coming weeks.  Typically we are between 5 and 9 people, different attenders each day.   It is a very accessible service which is led for us from the Common Worship office of Daily Prayer, and includes bible readings; canticles (which we say together); the commemoration of saints and other worthy people (which are assigned for the day in question); and intercessions for the world, the church and individuals  - led by whoever is presiding that morning.  It is a great encouragement to have new people share in this work of prayer and act of worship, however occasionally.  Just come along!

Archdeacon Douglas  -  Sadly, the planned farewell Eucharist in the Cathedral had to be cancelled due to the Archdeacon’s ill health and hospitalisation. It is hoped to hold the service at a later date, yet to be arranged.  In the meantime, we pray for Douglas’s care and recovery.

Church Times – recent weeks’ copies of the Church Times are available from the book rack near the north door of St John’s Church.  Do take and read, if interested, and return before they are committed to the re-cycling.

Keyboard player – anybody out there with fair piano/keyboard skills that they might be able to offer, have a word please with me.  Revd Andrew Doye

Church Watch Rota -   We like to have our Church open during the day, and it would be helpful to have one or two more watchers - minimum time required is availability one day a month to ensure that the Church is open at 10am and then closed at 3pm. Do ask if you need more details. Current watchers please let me know your availability for July to September as soon as convenient.  Many thanks, Marjorie K

2018 is the Diocesan Year of Prayer

God of mercy, God of grace,
Show the brightness of thy face:
Shine upon us, Saviour, shine,
Fill thy Church with light divine;
And thy saving help extend
Unto earth’s remotest end.             [H.F. Lyte   1793-1847]
