News and Events
Harvest Lunch - Sunday 14 October 2018 at 11.45am in the Parish Hall.
Supper Lectures – the second lecture is on Saturday 20 October 2018 when Robina and Terry Richter talk on “Our time in Tabora, Tanzania”. Further details for lecture on Friday, 23 November 2018 on the leaflet in the Welcome Area at St. John the Baptist Church. Tickets now available from Susie D (phone number on posters in church or the parish hall, or send an email).
Quiet Day at Chichester Cathedral, Dresden Room - on Thursday 29 November 2018, Revd Andrew Doye is leading a quiet day for parishioners from 9.45am to 3.30pm. Please sign the sheet at the back of churches to attend. It is not be possible to eat packed lunches in the Dresden Room, so in the midday break retreatants will need to eat discretely in the cathedral or buy from the on site café or other outlets. Payment for the Quiet Day, by donation on the day.
Confirmation - the deanery confirmation will take play in May 2019. Candidates will be prepared alongside those from other parishes and now is the time to let the Rector know if you or your child wish to be included. Youngsters would generally be in Year 8 or above, but exceptionally we can discuss those in Yr 7. Adults, may be of any age.
The Parish Magazine - always welcomes contributors. There is a present vacancy for a reporter to join a small team to cover up to three meetings a year of the Parish Council. Speak to any editor or the Rector to learn more.
Harvest Appeal - in response to the Bishop of Lewes’ appeal for generous donations to support work in West Africa and Kenya, a cash collection will be taken up at all the church service on 14 October 2018. To give to the Appeal please use a blue envelope and mark it ‘Harvest Appeal’, adding your details if you pay tax. Cheques should be payable to “Westbourne PCC”.
Sunday 4 November 2018 - Friends’ and Relatives’ Remembrance Service at 3.00pm. If you have a loved one who has died in 2017 or 2018 and whose name we might read in the course of this service, please have a word with the Rector.
Remembrance Sunday 11 November 2018 - the Remembrance Service will begin at the War Memorial at 10.50am. Earlier Communion at Woodmancote, 9.00am
Sunday 27 October 2018 - Ella Rundle Concert in St John's Church at 7.00pm - details to follow or see www.wemsfest.com. This concert is part of WemsFest 2018/19.
Chutney - whilst everyone is gathering in their harvests please remember that chutney and pickles will sell well at the Christmas Fair on Saturday 1 December 2018. Thank you.
Plastic Milk Bottle Tops - we currently only have an outlet for clean, plastic milk bottle tops for recycling. So please do not include any other types of bottle tops in your bag. Thank you.
