Almighty and everlasting God, who in your tender love towards the human race sent your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ to take upon him our flesh and to suffer death upon the cross: grant that we may follow the example of his patience and humility, and also be made partakers of his resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen

Almighty Father, look which mercy on this your family for which our Lord Jesus Christ was content to be betrayed and given up into the hands of sinners and to suffer death upon the cross; who is alive and glorified with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

News and Events

Holy Week  -  this is the most important period in the church’s year. Do make good use of it, and our many acts of worship, in walking these precious days with our Lord.

Any Plants to decorate our Garden of the Vigil on Thursday evening: please bring them to the Church on short-term loan from Monday morning.

Son-Rise breakfast  from around 6am on Easter Sunday we will enjoy a breakfast in the Hall, after the early morning service. If coming along, please let The Rector know with good notice so that we can cater appropriately.

Annual Church Meeting, Wed 24 April, 7.30pm:  at least five places will be available on the Church Council (‘PCC’) and one place on the Deanery Synod. Formal notices of the meeting are on the Noticeboards and Reports and nomination forms are available at the back of St John the Baptist Church.

Christian Aid envelopes were given out on 10 March 2019 at the visit of Mark Johnson. Last day to return these envelopes – until Christian Aid week itself.

Chilli Supper for Christian Aid, Sat 11 May 2019 at 7.30pm. Tickets, on sale after each 0930 service; or from Robina Richter or Rona Musker.

Christian Aid collectors We are needing help with the parish house to house collection during Christian Aid week, May 11 - 18.  Please contact Robina R if you can join the team of those who have already volunteered..

In this Year of Vocation we have been invited to shape a personal Rule of Life (using the blue cards that are in the churches). In Advent, we considered a resolution as to how/when we would pray. At Christmas, we determined ways we would be generous (a ‘gift to the world’, reflecting God’s great Gift). And now, in Lent, we may wish to add to our Rule of Life, ways in which we will fashion greater time and quality of attention for those near to us, and how we might reduce waste in our living.
