News and Events

Sunday 25 August 2019 evening at Woodmancote, a service of evening prayer with address. Do join us in this distinctive setting.
Patronal Festival Service this year will be held at 10.30am next Sunday (1 September 2019) at St John the Baptist Church, and include three baptisms. The service will be followed by a light lunch in the church, and to aid catering please sign the notice on the board at St John the Baptist Church if you plan to join us. Thank you.

The Quiet Garden at Fishbourne  at St Peter’s Place, Fishbourne Church Hall, PO19 3XT there will be a morning of rest, quiet and spiritual reflection between 10.00am and 12.15pm on Tuesday 27 August 2019. Beginning with reflections led by the Chaplain, St Wilfrid’s Hospice on “Inspiring Joy with the Spice Girls”.
Churchyard Work Party - a huge thank you to everyone who helped in the churchyard last week, and to those who have cut grass, strimmed around the gravestones and killed the weeds over the recent months. It all makes a big difference to ensure the churchyard looks tidy.
Drop In volunteers - many people have volunteered their help over the years, but now we would like some more helpers to provide a welcome on a Monday and Thursday morning from 10 to 12 noon. Please speak to Andrew Turner or Marjorie Kipling or just “Drop In” to find out what is involved.

Parish Hall - there is a little more painting to be done in the Parish Hall before the Nursery term starts. Please speak to Andrew Turner if you can help this week.

Chichester Diocese is running a free Social Media training workshop on Tuesday 17 September 2019, from 10am - 4pm in Hove. Please speak to a Churchwarden if you could attend, and later brief the PCC on this topic.

Parish Giving Scheme - please support our churches by means of a regular promised contribution, if possible through the Parish Giving Scheme. Leaflets and application forms are at the back of our churches or contact Ali George.
Bible Reading Fellowship booklets, for the period September to December 2019, are in pigeonholes for those who have ordered them. If you have not already paid for the year (£13.80) please consider doing so, otherwise the cost is £4.60 per booklet – cheques payable to ‘D Farr’. Other BRF leaflets can be found in the Welcome Area - include books for Advent. Please ask if you would like anything ordered. Dennis Farr

Deanery Prayer Gatherings - next two dates are:
- Thursday 5 September 2019, 12pm at The Valley Parish ’s Church in Singleton PO18 0EZ
- Saturday 21 September 2019, 9.30am at St John the Baptist Westbourne.
No need to stay longer than you are able - there really is no formal structure - just join when you can.
Ride and Stride, Saturday 14 September 2019 - this event is a sponsored ride (bike or horse) or walk in which people visit churches. Is this something for you? Any funds raised are shared between Sussex Historic Churches Trust and your own church.  We hope to have St John the Baptist church manned to greet visitors. The next Organ Recital will be by William McVicker on 21 September 2019. It will be preceded by a talk at 5.30pm, followed by an interval with the recital beginning at 7.00pm. Tickets £7 on the door. Book the date!
