Ground-breaking web resource - the new Visual Commentary on the Bible matches three works of art with passages of scripture.  Each triptych is chosen by a theologian or an art historian, who also writes a short commentary on each picture, relating it to the Bible passage.  Presently there are 50 completed triptychs; and this will increase to 1500 over the coming 7 years, as copyright licences are obtained.  Visit thevcs.org and save the site as a bookmark.  TRY ‘the adoration of the shepherds’ Luke 2:8-16 maybe, as a starting place.

A New Year’s Resolution - Please consider giving an hour or two to the church to help with one or more of the following: Church Watch on the 2nd or 3rd Friday each month; cleaning an area of the church each month; preparing and serving the coffee after the 9.30am service occasionally or taking on a role as Sidesperson or Server, please
speak to Jane Stuttard or be prepared when someone approaches you!

Annual Report on 2018
Now is the time of year when we can collect our thoughts on last year, and begin to prepare our annual report of church activities in 2018. If you usually prepare a report, can you please do so before the end of January and send to the PCC Secretary or notes by hand please.
Also, it would be good to receive comments or one-liners on anything that struck you as enjoyable, unusual or memorable during the year or the Advent and Christmas season.

Marmalade time again - please help us to have another Marmalade Festival this year – on Saturday 2 March 2019 – by getting the oranges in the pan and stirring up some delicious marmalade once again. More details later.

Giving - at the beginning of 2019, I thank those who have supported the work of our churches by regular giving in the year past: some 85 of us through the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) and a further 23 by means of the coloured envelopes or standing orders. Although details are unknown to me, this generous support goes a great way to allowing our churches to flourish and serve their community. For others wanting to join the giving scheme please take a leaflet at the back of church or speak with our Treasurer/Churchwarden. Revd Andrew Doye

Year of Vocation cards - available in the Churches for all: to use in compiling of a spiritual ‘Rule of Life’. These are private to the user, and build up during the coming six months. In Advent we were invited to consider any patterns by which we wish to shape our Prayer and Penitence; and in the Christmas season, we have been invited to consider how we can respond to those in need, nearby and further away.
