Andrew Doye Giving to the churchOne of the changes in Summer 2020 was to introduce a contactless machine for occasional giving. Now, it is timely to remind everyone of the different ways to give to the Church, as cash becomes more difficult to bank and some methods incur fees. A separate sheet is available in our churches. Many thanks to all who give regularly to our churches and to those who have reviewed their giving recently. Growing in faithWe are all encouraged to grow in the expression of our Christianity. Here are some opportunities to do that. To pursue any one of these, or enquire further, please contact the Rector soon. Confirmation is offered for young persons (12+) and adults, involving preparation and conversation, before a gathered Service in the Cathedral or another local church. There is no upper age limit. At our services: would you like to learn to be a robed Server at the Parish Communion? Would you like to offer to be an occasional welcomer and helper at baptisms after the 09.30am service? Might you like to know what is involved in leading our prayers from time to time at 0930? For each of these we maintain a small team. If interested, do contact the Rector soon to learn more. Admission to Communion is a course of preparation for children (7+) who are not yet confirmed, but would like to receive the bread and wine in our services. Parents need to be in accord, and should enquire on their child’s behalf. It is hoped to run a course this coming term. EventsVillage tea - 28 August 2021A very pleasant afternoon tea was enjoyed by Westbourne Parish residents on the Rectory Lawn. A chance to chat and catch up with those who had not met for some time, as well as the chance to make new acquaintances. The excellent Puppet shows, books stall and preserves were all popular, though the magnificent selection of scones and cakes was the highlight of the day for many people. Many thanks to everyone who was involved. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the forthcoming services or to coffee Drop-in at the Parish Hall in the coming months.
