Booking for services due to Covid-19 pandemic

Booking remains essential for services in the Church so please book, from the preceding Monday for next Sunday’s services, stating the time of the service you wish to attend and the number in your group, preferably to sjbwsignupforservices@gmail.com (not after Friday) or you can call Angie Leggett on (01243) 377825.

Livestream

Today’s service will be live-streamed. You should be aware that the camera is at the left-hand side, in the side chapel. So, please turn right after you have received communion, rather than left.  Every endeavour will be made to maintain privacy for those taking communion.  The playing of the organ voluntary before the service starts is an indication that we should cease chatting to our neighbour and prepare for worship. This is even more relevant today, as anyone listening from home can hear what is being said! The current system we are using is temporary, and installation of the permanent system, which will have different camera and microphone positions, is provisionally scheduled for the end of August.

Collect for the Fifth Sunday after Trinity

Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of the Church is governed and sanctified:  hear our prayer which we offer for all your faithful people, that in their vocation and ministry they may serve you in holiness and truth to the glory of your name;  through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Amen

For our prayers (please contact the Churchwardens to add names):

  • for the needs of the world, especially areas of conflict during the spread of Covid
  • for all who have been and continue to be affected by the pandemic, particularly those approaching more uncertainty about their jobs
  • for Elizabeth our Queen and all set in authority under her
  • for those whose Banns will be read this week, for the couples married this week or who are preparing for their marriages later this month
  • for all those known to us who are unwell: that God will bring them healing and wholeness
  • for the families of those who have died
  • for Andrew and Karen

The Church is open for private prayer on Thursdays between 11am and 3pm, and Sundays between Noon and 3pm, until further notice.  Face coverings must be worn, please follow the signage and the one-way system and maintain social distancing.

Events and notices

Not the Church Fete - instead of the Fete this year on 28 August 2021, we plan to hold a Village Tea on the Rectory Lawn and in the Hall with tea and cake, Punch & Judy show, books and preserves. To make this inclusive of everyone in the village there will be no charge but donations to church funds. Further details to follow.   Jane & Angie

The Westbourne Magazine for July 2021 is available  from 4 July in the church.

Calligraphy for our Memorial Book. Are you a calligrapher or do you know somebody who is? The churchwardens are looking for someone to update our Memorial Book.

Facebook - We would like some help to make sure our Facebook page is kept up to date on a regular basis. If this would interest you, please speak to Jane or Angie or Marjorie.

A resource request from Westbourne Primary School - In order to resource intervention groups throughout the school we would be grateful for any visually appealing and engaging, colourful toys such as windup, popup, musical or mechanical items that are pocket sized.  If you have any items that you could give a second home to please take them to the school. Or put them into the box in the church labelled ‘toys to school’. Thank you very much.

Prayer - if there are causes or people that you wish to bring to the attention of the Church and its praying community, please contact the churchwardens.
