News and Events

Church clock

Peter, the engineer from the Cumbria Clock Company,

was here for three hard days' work and he had

steeplejacks lowered on ropes to reinstall the hands on

Tuesday. The shaft drive at the top of the tower has

been better protected with some new hardwood

boxing-in (undertaken by Couzens). The clock itself is

now electrically wound. We've been told it may lose or

gain a few minutes a week at the beginning and also

how to adjust this so that in a month or so we hope to

have near perfect time keeping. Thank you to all for

your patience - it's been a long job but the clock was installed in 1862 so we hope it will be around for as  long again! Andrew Turner

APCM update
Following our APCM last Sunday, we thank Jane Stuttard and Angie Leggett for  agreeing to stand again as our Churchwardens, and Andrew Turner as Deputy  Churchwarden, and we welcome Kirsty Maslen as a new Deputy Churchwarden.
