Art for Christian Aid

Stuart Thompson and I are both exhibiting in the Emsworth Arts Trail running on 11 & 12 and 18 & 19 September, 10am-5.00pm at 48 Beacon Square, Emsworth.  We have decided to give our profits to Christian Aid's work for relieving the effects of climate change for the poorest in the World.  Christian Aid provide direct support to partners working with those effected by drought, flood, rising sea-levels, poor crops and hunger.

On Wednesday 15 September we are arranging a special viewing Evening from 6-8pm. There will be music, entertainment and promotion of Christian Aid’s work.  Please join us and also promote the evening to friends. Robina Richter

Growing in faith

We are all encouraged to grow in the expression of our Christianity. Here are some opportunities to do that.  To enquire further, please contact the Rector.

Confirmation is offered for young persons (12+) and adults, involving preparation and conversation, before a gathered Service in the Cathedral or another local church.  There is no upper age limit.

At our services: would you like to learn to be a robed Server at the Parish Communion?

Would you like to offer to be an occasional welcomer and helper at baptisms after the 09.30am service?  Might you like to know what is involved in leading our prayers from time to time at 09.30am?

For each of these we maintain a small team. If interested, do contact the Rector soon to learn more.

Admission to Communion is a course of preparation for children (7+) who are not yet confirmed, but would like to receive the bread and wine in our services. Parents need to be in accord, and should enquire on their child’s behalf. It is hoped to run a course this term.

Giving to the church

One of the changes in Summer 2020 was to introduce a contactless machine for occasional giving.  Now, it is timely to remind everyone of the different ways to give to the Church, and to this purpose a separate sheet is available in our churches.  Many thanks to all who give regularly to our churches and to those who have reviewed their giving recently.

Sussex Ride & Stride

11 September 2021 - Our churches are registered for participants to visit this coming Saturday. The event is organised by Sussex Historic Churches Trust. Ride & Stride encourages walkers and cyclists to get sponsored to visit Churches/Chapels across the county and Hampshire too.

Memorial Exhibition and Sale of Cyril and Jane Shutler’s Art Work

This will be in the Parish Hall on 23 and 24 October 2021. In aid of the Westbourne Church Restoration Trust. More details nearer the date.

Iona Pilgrimage (very advanced notice)

Andrew and Karen Doye will lead a trip to the holy island of Iona from 15-22 April, 2023, staying at the Episcopal Church’s ‘Bishop’s House’. An information meeting will be offered shortly.
