The churches’ outside fundraising in May focusses on Christian Aid.

Living in Love and Faith (‘LLF’) is a series of resources designed by the Church of England to enable learning and discussion in the realms of identity, sex and relationships, marriage and love. It has been available to us for over two years as an online learning hub.

In Westbourne, we shall offer a short 5 session course this summer, wanting to engage with some of the themes of LLF.  It all begins for us with a ‘taster’ presentation, in the Parish Hall on Saturday 21st May, from 9-10am.  Do come along to enjoy a light breakfast and learn about the content of the intended course.  If you can let me know in advance that you are attending this will further help catering.                                                                Revd Andrew Doye

Ascension Day Walk – Thursday 26 May 2022.  As written in the May Magazine, after 8.30 Morning Prayer, a walk will begin at 9am from the Church ‘Beating the Bounds’ of the Parish. Stopping at Woodmancote for a 35minute service with Holy Communion (11.30am), then returning to the Parish Church (maybe 1245).  You can try all or part of the walk and/or one or both acts of Worship. Map and full details available separately on request to the Rector.

We continue to encourage prayer for the people of Ukraine, and to use the Parish Church as a quiet place of contemplation in which to do so.  A pillar candle burns in the north chapel each day.

Sunday cash collections for the people of Ukraine have ended, and £1,000 (including Gift Aid) has been sent to the DEC Ukraine appeal.  We direct those who wish to make further contribution to do so through DEC. But there will be an Afternoon Tea at Church House on Sunday 29 May 2022, 2.30-5.00pm.

Summer Fete – Saturday 23 July 2022
Punch & Judy are booked, but we need lots of helpers.  Please tell Angie Leggett or Marjorie Kipling if you can help on the day or with preparations in advance. Could you run a stall or a side-show, make jam or cakes, grow plants or help with publicity to make a great occasion?

APCM news

Following our APCM, Angie Leggett and Andrew Turner were elected as our Churchwardens, Kirsty Maslen as Deputy Churchwarden and Sue Alexander, Rachael Bridger and Karen Doye were elected as members of the PCC.  Congratulations and thank you to them all.  Thanks were gratefully extended to Jane Stuttard who retired as Churchwarden after 4 years in the role; and also to Susie Driver and Guy Elgood who retired from the PCC.
