Relatives’ and Friends’ Remembrance Service – Sunday 7 November 2021

This will be a gentle service of remembrance, open to all, in which we shall honour and recall our loved ones who have died since the beginning of 2019.  This longer period reflects that we were unable to hold this much-loved service last year.  There will be hymns, prayers and the lighting of candles.

Do please contact the Rector now if there is any family member or friend whose name you would like included, and if you would like to attend the Service.  It is entirely fitting to remember people from further afield if you yourself live more locally and are able to attend.

This coming week

Monday to Friday, 8.30am - Morning Prayer   (via Zoom)

Please contact Marjorie Kipling if you want a Zoom invitation

Monday, 11 October 2021, 10.00am – 12 noon - Drop In  in the Parish Hall

Wednesday, 13 October 2021, 10.30am - Holy Communion  (Revd Bill McCoubrey)

The Parish Church is open for private prayer between 10.00am and 3.00pm.

The Rector is off duty this week

Pilgtimage. Andrew and Karen Doye will lead a trip to the island of Iona, off the coast of south-west Scotland, from 15-22 April, 2023. We have now opened the event further to others beyond the parish itself, so feel able to commend the journey to any you personally know who would be interested. We have booked all 23 places at the Episcopal Church’s ‘Bishop’s House’. For any who could not join the first presentation, there will be a repeat on Saturday 6 November, 10am.

Harvest. This year’s Harvest goods (any edible food that is within it’s ‘Use by’ date) are being picked up from the church at 09:30 on Monday morning, by our partner organisation UK Harvest. If anyone is free to help for a few minutes with the movement and loading of items, we are sure your assistance will be helpful. UK Harvest, serves the areas of Chichester and West Sussex: delivering goods to ‘not for profit organisations across the South Coast’. To donate money rather than goods, please donate at its website https://www.ukharvest.org.uk/donate. The contact number for the organisation is 01243 696940 and there is more information at https://www.ukharvest.org.uk/food-rescue/give-food.

Westbourne Magazine

Would you like to be involved in producing Westbourne’s Magazine which has existed for more than 150 years?

We are looking for people with a working knowledge of Word and/or Publisher. You would need to be available every other month, over a 10-day period, to edit articles that have been sent in, or compile the articles into the magazine using Publisher. The work can be done at any time during that period to suit you.

It’s a very rewarding task – if you can help, or would like to know more, please contact Margaret Bristowe 07974 007687, or by email westbournemagazine@gmail.com

Fundraising

We raised more than £1,900 at our Village Tea & Patronal Festival (including Gift Aid on donations), and just over £500 has been sent to Sanctuary in Chichester for their work with Afghan refugees. Thank you for your support.
