Morning Prayer takes place in St John the Baptist Church at 08.30am to 09.00am every weekday morning.  Do come along, and give it a try, if you can. It is led from the Church of England’s format for Daily Prayer, and contains Bible readings, canticles, appropriate local, national and international prayers, and will often feature a reflection on one of the readings. Every Tuesday, some of those present usually go on for breakfast or a drink at the Westbourne Café! Everyone welcome.

Deanery Prayer Gatherings. The next ones will take place on Saturday 15 February 2020 at 9.30am at St Mary’s Church, Chidham and Thursday 5 March 2020 at 12 noon at St Andrew’s Church, West Stoke.

News and Events

Tots' Time. This event takes place on Monday mornings at 09.30 in the Church, weekly. We meet again this Monday 10th, and then have a break during half term. This event allows pre-school children and their parent/carer to join, in a safe and happy setting. A fun act of worship for little ones: songs and percussion, stories and sharing; short and snappy with refreshments.

Alton Abbey Retreat. The Westbourne Parish visit will take place from Friday 6 March to Sunday 8 March 2020. Please speak to Jane Stuttard for further information.

50:50 Club. Winners for January 2020 are 1st No. 34,  2nd No. 58 and 3rd No 16.

Confirmation in Westbourne Deanery. This service will take place in May 2020. If you are an adult interested in being Confirmed, or the parent of a child aged 12 and above who is similarly interested, please speak with the Rector for further details.

Marmalade Festival. This event will take place next Saturday 15 February, 9.00am to 11.30am. If you can put a poster in your window, please take one, or ask Andrew Turner or Marjorie Kipling for one. Helpers required to sell marmalade and to serve breakfast. Contributions for the event can be delivered to the Hall on Thursday morning (during Drop-in) or early on Saturday morning.

Food Hygiene. Those of you who are not involved in helping with catering for church events (including Sunday coffee) may be unaware that the PCC has had to register with Chichester District Council and we are pleased to report that we achieved a 5 star rating star for our kitchens. The PCC would be most grateful if all users would help us to maintain this rating, and work to leave the kitchen as clean (or cleaner!) than you find it, and to dispose of all rubbish after your activity. Marjorie Kipling

Used Postage Stamps. The British Red Cross charity shop in Emsworth is happy to have used stamps. A small box has been placed in the Welcome Area at St John the Baptist Church if you are looking for a good cause for your stamps.

Lent 2020 - Housegroups

Four groups will meet for 5 sessions, starting in March. Three groups will study a York Course, “Superstar”; the other group will consider the “I am sayings of Christ”. Sign-up notice in St John the Baptist Church with further details and contacts.

Volunteers needed

Marmalade Festival 2020. Can you help at the event on 15 February 2020? Details above.

Drop-in. We are keen to recruit more volunteers to help and especially on a Thursday. If you join the team it tends to work out as twice in a three month period that you would be on duty. Please help us to keep this valuable service going. If you would like to know more please speak to Marjorie or Andrew T. Many thanks.

Upholsters wanted. Is anyone able to reupholster chair pads for the church? Please speak to Jane Stuttard.

Poster support needed. Could you help with computer graphics for designing posters? Please speak to Jane Stuttard.
